The error-producing factors are show also. ![]() ![]() ![]() Alina - Crina CIUBOTARIUa ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPY METHOD FOR INVESTIGATE THE STRUCTURAL ASPECTS OF THERMOSETTING POLYMERS/Zn COMPOSITE LAYERS Abstract: The present work has the purpose of studying structural aspects of composite layers having zinc matrix and thermosetting polymers (PF resin type NOVOLAC - RESITAL 6358/1 and epoxy resin type DINOX 110L) as dispersed phase obtained during electrodeposition process of zinc. The composite layers were electrodeposited from a suspension of resin particles in aqueous zinc sulphate electrolyte by adding 10g/L resin particles with size 6 - 10µm into electrolyte solution. The structure of the composite layers was investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) method. The surface morphology of thermosetting polymers/Zn composite layers is different compared with pure zinc layers: the regular crystal structure characteristic of electroplated zinc layers was disturbed. The decreases of the roughness of composite layers comparing with roughness of pure zinc layers can be determinate by the fine structure of the composite layers. ![]() ![]() ![]() Mircea D. RATIUa, Horatiu VERMESANb, Vasile RUSb CORROSION AWARENESS MAINTENANCE PROGRAM FOR POWER PIPING LINES Abstract: The unavoidable corrosion damage increases substantially the operating cost in power plants -nuclear and fossil- through the scheduled and especially the unscheduled shutdowns for repair. Therefore, a proactive-prospective awareness program would be beneficial to keep the plant in safe operation for as long as practical. The CALCET proposed Corrosion Awareness Maintenance (CAM) Program provides maintenance actions to monitor the operation induced wall thinning and the pertinent evaluation of prospective remaining safe life. The program includes: (a) preventive retrofit maintenance of critical parts; (b) proactive control by component periodical inspection; (c) on-line specimen monitoring: and (d) prospective damage increase defining the remaining safe fitness for service. The program presents the specific requirements for the general corrosion on stagnant fluids (tanks, vessels, reservoirs) and erosioncorrosion on streaming fluids (high pressure pipe lines), considering also the difference in operating temperature: moderate (less or equal to 260°C), or high (greater than 260°C). S. SZABÓ and I. BAKOSa CORROSION EFFECTS OF METAL CATALYSTS Abstract: A short summarization of possible corrosion effects of metal catalysts on their environs has been made in order to draw attention to the importance of this entirely ignored field of metal corrosion. Ernest GRUNWALDa, Caius BULEAa, Horatiu VERMESANb, Vasile RUSa PROPERTIES COMPARISON BETWEEN DIFFERENT ZINC PLATING ELECTROLYTE TYPES Abstract: The paper presents a comparison between the properties of different types of electrolytes used in zinc electroplating industry. The alkaline electrolytes with or without cyanide content, weak acid and acid electrolytes are analyzed. The advantages and disadvantages of each type of electrolyte are systematically presented in tables, together with some technological specifications. The paper is a synthesis of practical knowledge applicable in industry, acquired over 50 years of experience, being useful to those working in the field of zinc electroplating. |
