The integrated monitoring system used in the Olt river basin – Sibiu county

Abstract: This paper presents the partial synthesis of the water quality in the Olt river basin – Sibiu County by using the Integrated Water Monitoring System in Romania (SMIAR).
483 km of river were monitored, structured into 25 sections, to obtain coherent and complete information on the ecological and chemical state of this river basin segment.
The processing of physic-chemical and biological samples analysis results allowed the river segments to be classified into categories and quality classes. The conclusion was drawn that only about half of the studied segments meet reference objectives.

Cathodic protection of the underground pipelines by impressed current technique

Abstract: In this work are shown the principal elements for design of a cathodic protection station by impressed current technique. Two cases are considered: (1) the pipeline protection is ensured by a single station, station of infinite length and (2) the pipeline protection is ensured by more several stations, station of finite length.

Corrosion behaviour of black decorative thin films

Abstract: Within the frame of this work decorative thin films of Ti(C,O,N) type were obtained by reactive magnetron sputtering technique. The black coatings with different compositions were obtained varying the C2H2/ (N2+O2) reactive gases flow ratio, taking into account the pre-existing knowledge about sputtered Ti-O-N and Ti-C-O systems. Due to the decorative purpose of these Ti(C,O,N) coatings the corrosion behaviour was determined by immersion into a solution with a composition that imitates the human body sweat. It could be observed that the crystalline and sub-stoichiomeric thin films presented the highest corrosion rate and that corrosion resistance increases together with the growth of the N2+O2 partial
pressure..

The influence on electrochemical, corrosive and physico-mechanical properties of alloying Ni-Re system alloys with zirconium

Abstract: The influence of alloying with zirconium on electrochemical, corrosive and physico- mechanical properties of Ni-Re system alloys is studied. It is determined that the addition of zirconium in the Ni- Re system alloys drastically increases the corrosion resistance of the alloys neutral (for 35.7 times – alloy Ni- 10 Re-0.25 Zr), alkaline (for 2.5 times – alloy Ni-10 Re- 1.0 Zr) and acid (from 4.23 times to 22.72 times – alloy Ni 10 Re – 0.1 Zr) mediums and strengthens the solid solution due to accessory distortion of the crystal lattice of nickel. At the same time, the plasticity and processivity of the alloys are sufficiently high.

Studies and research regarding on the processing refractory gold pyrites clean hydrometallurgical technologies

Abstract: This work is dedicated to the experimental researches regarding the chemical oxidation of pyrite and arsenopyrite in alkaline solutions in the occurrence of oxygen response during the oxidation of these minerals in order to get a better understanding upon the chemical of a new process of gold recuperation from sulphurous refractory minerals with gold content. A growth of running temperature from 50°C to 80°C leads to a rise of the leaching performance of arsenic with 20- 25%. Also observed that the yield increases with time and remains constant after 2.5-3 hours. The auriferous pyrite removed from arsenic can be used in the batch mixture for the melting process in suspension of the copper concentrates, in order to exploit the gold that contain the pyrite. Through the experimental researches performed to establish a technology that removes the arsenic from auriferous and arsenic pyrites.
