Mechanism of corrosion in galvanized plates depending on the layer chemical composition

Abstract: Protection of steel surface by galvanization is one of the most widely used procedures to increase steel products corrosion resistence. In the past decades this procedure has been increasingly improved by applying Zn - alloy coatings. Zinc, Zn Al alloy - and Zn Fe alloy coated samples were exposed to various corrosion tests (salt spray, CASS, Kesternich.) The process gravimetric indices and time - variation were determined. According to the results obtained an attempt was made to explain / account for the different behavior to corrosion of the protection layers analyzed, and a number of process mechanisms were suggested depending on the nature of the protection layers and resulting corrosion products.

Electrodeposition of nickel from ionic liquids based on choline chloride

Abstract: The paper presents a study about nickel electrodeposition from ionic liquids, as an alternative for the classical electrodeposition which are used at industrial scale. Comparing with techniques applied in present, this new proposed technique is an ecological procedure, because the used ionic liquid is composed from non-toxic common components: choline chloride (used for chicken feed as vitamin B4) and urea (a common fertiliser). Also, this recent ionic liquid has several advantages, being air and moisture stable. Our experiments have demonstrated the possibility of Ni deposition as an adherent and a dark black colour layer on steel or Cu substrate.

Theoretical and practical aspects of the tin coverings with an anticorrosive purpose, in the machine-building industry

Abstract: The paper presents a theoretical and practical approach of the technical issues occurring in the anticorrosive protection procedures through galvanic covering with tin, of certain types of parts in the machine-building industry. Because of certain perturbing factors of the technological process, there are situations when the electrochemical deposit does not assure an appropriate quality to the protection layer, which may lead to factory rejects of the parts or of the electrolysis bath. The paper aims at analysing and remedying these situations in due time, so that the percentage of elaborated parts might be at its maximum.

Improvement of steel sheet corrosion resistance by thermal coverage method with zinc – aluminium alloys

Abstract: The paper presents the main physical-chemical characteristics (viscosity and superficial tension of zinc-aluminium liquid alloy in view of carry out protected layers on steel sheet with very good properties by thermal method. Taking into account of experimental researches have been analysed alloy melted conditions and metallic covering according established technology.

Carbon steel OL 37 and brass electrodes polarisation in reducing unit water

Abstract: Petroleum industry is affect by the severe corrosive processes, including during, extraction and processing. The paper presents some aspects regarding the brass and steel OL 37 type carbon steel corrosion in reducing unit water. The experiments were performed by means of potentiostatic method. It has been drawn the anode and cathode polarization curves in absence and in presence of corrosion inhibitors. To increase the anticorrosive protection, two inhibitors have been used, based on polytriazole and ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid.

Economical aspects of corrosion

Abstract: In the paper are analyzed the financial and material losses because of corrosion damage. Studies made in various industrial developed countries shows that corrosion is very costly and have a major impact on the environment. The paper presents also the benefits of corrosion for economy, science and environment.

The corrosion of reinforced concrete structures

Abstract: The corrosion of reinforced concrete structures is a domain that is studied for a long time with real but unconvincing results because of the complexity of the phenomenology caused by the interaction between the concrete, the reinforcement and the environment. The main corrosive effects are the concrete carbonization, the chloride ions consequences and the sulphuric attack. These theoretical principles prove the current researches in this field to improve the anticorrosive properties of the used materials, to find solutions to maintain and rehabilitate the existent structures and to protect the environment.
